5th J&K UT-Level Carrom C’ship concludes after thrilling 3-day showdown

Srinagar, Apr 02: The 5th Jammu & Kashmir UT-Level Carrom Championship 2025–26 concluded successfully on Thursday at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Wazirbagh, after three days of competitive play and enthusiastic participation.

The championship was organized by Jammu & Kashmir Carrom Association and hosted by District Srinagar Carrom Association and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council under its flagship initiative “My Youth My Pride.”

The event witnessed participation of more than 350 players from over 13 districts of Jammu & Kashmir, representing various schools, colleges, and institutions from across the Union Territory.

Competitions were conducted across four categories, Cadet, Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior, for boys and girls, as well as men and women, providing a competitive platform for players across all age groups.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir. The ceremony was also attended by distinguished Guests of Honour, including Dr Altaf-ur-Rehman, Former Physical Director, Islamia College Srinagar; Dr Nissar Ahmad Paul, General Secretary PDF; Sameer Ahmad, Senior Vice President; Advocate Adfar Mehraj, Vice President, J&K Carrom Association; Shafkat Shafi, Judo Coach, J&K Sports Council; Mudasir Khan, General Secretary, J&K Carrom Association; and Mehraj-ud-Din, Assistant Incharge, SKISC, Srinagar.

Among other dignitaries present were Nayeema Khan, Member, J&K Carrom Association, and Zubaida Ahad, Joint Secretary, Baramulla Carrom Association.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the organizers in successfully conducting the championship and emphasized the importance of such events in promoting sports culture and nurturing young talent across the Union Territory.

The winners, runners-up, and third-place holders across all categories were felicitated by the dignitaries with trophies, medals, and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performances and sportsmanship during the event.

In the Cadet Girls category, Saeedah Adil secured the first position, followed by Ayesha Aijaz in second place and Hadiya Fayaz finishing third, showcasing strong competition among the young participants.

In Cadet Boys, Hassan Adil from Srinagar clinched the top spot, while Numan Imtiyaz from Kulgam secured second place and Zaveer Mehraj from Baramulla stood third, reflecting a commendable display of talent across districts.

The Sub-Junior Girls category saw Saeedah Adil once again emerging victorious, with Safiya Ahad finishing second and Maheena claiming the third position.

In Sub-Junior Boys, Hassan Adil from Srinagar continued his impressive run by securing first place, followed by Faizan Firdous from Baramulla in second position and Umer Hassan from Police Public School taking third place.

Among Junior Girls, Saeedah Adil from Srinagar dominated the category by finishing first, while Arooba Suhail from Baramulla secured second place and Ayat Imtiyaz from Kashmir Harvard came third.

In the Junior Boys category, Ayaan Maqsood from Srinagar secured the first position, followed closely by Ayaan Shalla, also from Srinagar, in second place, while Hasham-ul-Hassan from Kashmir Harvard finished third.

In Senior Girls, Asra Shafi from Srinagar bagged the top position, while Anzalna Rafiq and Kazima Khursheed, both from Anantnag, secured second and third places respectively.

In the Senior Men category, Shahid Ahmad from Srinagar emerged as the winner, with Furqan Nazir taking second place and Arsalan Mehraj finishing third, completing an all-Srinagar podium.

In the Team Championship (Boys), JKPP School secured the first position with team members Umer Rasool, Ryan Bhat, Hassan Illahi, and Tabeeb Mughal. Unique Educational Institute, Baramulla finished second with Mohammad Abdullah, Mohammad Abrar Wani, Muzamil, and Arhaf, while Kashmir Harvard secured third place with Hamdaan, Ayaan, Hashim, and Shahijajan.

In the Team Championship (Girls), Green Valley clinched the first position with Alish Zahoor, Rizkin, Aisha Ajaz, and Bushra in the team. RP School secured second place with Fatima, Saroosh, Faiza, and Elzeena, while Kashmir Harvard finished third with Aliza, Fatima, Aasima Zainab, Hydah, and Aiyra.

The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to the J&K Sports Council, especially the Secretary Nuzhat Gull, for her continuous support and encouragement in making the event a grand success under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative.

The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Advocate Adfar Mehraj, Vice President, J&K Carrom Association, who acknowledged the contributions of officials, players, media personnel, and all stakeholders involved in the successful conduct of the championship.
